Prestige Hoods was established in 1980 and has since grown to
become a leading manufacturer of replacement hoods for classic and modern cars.
From our factory in Birkenhead, North West England, we manufacture hoods for
most Classic British and European sports cars, as well as modern convertibles
such as BMW, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Ford, Volkswagen, Vauxhall and Off Road 4x4
Vehicles.
The quality standards of our hoods are second to none. We
have carefully replicated the standards and quality used by the original vehicle
manufacturer to ensure our hoods are widely considered to be equal to those
fitted originally when the vehicle was new.
Only the finest quality car hood materials are used in the
construction of a Prestige Hood. We are able to offer a massive choice of grades
and colours to suit every pocket and taste. In all cases we offer the
manufacturers original quality as well as a high quality budget priced
alternative.
For vehicles that were originally fitted with a vinyl hood we
can offer the opportunity to upgrade to a superior quality fabric hood. Fabric
hoods offer many advantages over vinyl hoods. The material is generally more
pliable, harder wearing and less susceptible to temperature variations. Improved
insulation is particularly noticeable.

There are currently two
hood designs for the MGF. On earlier cars made prior to August 1997 the main roof
panel was made in three sections,
i.e. you will see two stitched and welded seams that runs from the front
header rail to the rear frame bow roughly above the driver and passenger heads. This hood is referred to as the Mk.1 Hood. From August
1997 onwards Rover made improvements to the design of the hood. The roof
panel is now made in one single piece which eliminates the stitched
and welded seams referred to above. This later design also incorporates
small rain gutters above the doors to alleviate the problem of water
dripping on the seats when the doors are opened. This hood is referred
to as the Mk.2 hood. The Mk.2 hood design is a major improvement on the
earlier hood and Prestige Hoods make Mk.1 hoods to this new and improved
Mk.2 specification. |

Rates
We
carry extensive stocks of the more popular hoods and make to order any
special requests or colours. Carriage
varies depending on destination and service used. Most of the U.K.
mainland is £10.00. For urgent orders we can offer an express service.
(Subject to stock and certain limitations) Europe is dependant on weight
of consignment. As a guide, to near European destinations add £21.95
for orders up to 20 kilos. The average hood weighs 4kg, tonneau covers
3kg and 8kg for carpet sets. Average transit times to Europe is 48
